House Party- Get Funky!

I was 10 when this film came out! I remember my mum rented it from our local video shop. I probably shouldn't have been watching it but so glad I did! I found it as funny then as I do now.

I literally grew up watching this movie with different sets of friends through my teens. Kid 'n' Play and his 'eraser head'. Pops (Robin Harris) 'it was so hot in here last night, I swear I saw the devil sitting in the living room' and 'with that Jheri Curl mess on your head, you could never do a crime... Ain't no problem finding ya... Follow the drip, follow the drip.' HILARIOUS!

The fashion stood out to me also from Kid's stripy sweater to Sharaine's party all in one. But the music and jokes are the most memorable. Classics by Luther Vandross, Public Enemy, Heatwave (Dragon Breath Bilal sings to the his dance partner) lol and Full Force.

These are my House Party inspired nails...

Check em out, and let me know what you think? Xxx

Missoni Inspired

Hey Nail Addicts, hope you all had a fab weekend?

Todays nails are Fashion inspired. I'm quite a fan of the Missoni fashion line from their bedding to their shoes and dresses. Stunning!!!

The zig zag pattern and the use of autumn colours give me such a warm feeling of home. Autumn is my season! It is the season I was born in so that is probably why I love it so and it's earthy tones.

In a previous blog post I have said I am a huge fan of geometric patterns and design, so the zig zag print is a big hit for me.

I have put a little twist on my design by using clashing colours orange and pink. I think they look fab together. When I first began this design I really wasn't sure but went with it, it got better as I went on. I added lightening bolts, so effective on nails.

These are a big hit on my Instagram account @POPNails, gotta love that! :))

What do you think?

Have a manic Monday people... Xx

Back Down Memory Lane...

Hey Nailettes, the year was 1994, it was summer and I was 13 years old. I took a trip to Germany with my mum, cousin, aunty, and my cousins then girlfriend. It was a long drive from London to Germany and we needed music. My cousin had some classic tunes playing in his car. The collection, from Jungle Mania, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg to Nirvana 'never mind' album I was in my element!

I remember looking out the window going through France and Belgium singing along to 'Lithium' My favourite at the time on the Nirvana album.

These are the Nirvana inspired nails. Remember the grunge era? Plaid Shirts? Hope you like?...

R.I.P Kurt Cobain

Never seen Mirror Mosaic Nails!

Hey y'all, hope you are all to the good. Today, 'never seen mirror mosaic nails' well, I haven't come across them.

I am trying to create and invent new concepts when it comes to nails. To be fair this was actually my mothers idea. She said to me one day "Sab's what about mirrors on nails?" I thought, ding, ding, ding! I had not seen actual mirrors on a nail before. So I googled and searched but the only images that came up were Minx, nail wraps and nail rock. Not a mirrored nail in sight!

I thought go Moroccan mosaic style, using a deep royal blue to accentuate the effect of shine. I am sure this will work with a variety of colour.

I actually love this look and am going to rock it on my next night out on the town with the girls...

What do you all think??

Sophy Robson X INSA X Nail Porn Comp!

How do Nail Junkies? hope all are well today? What terrible weather we are having in London. I hope today's post will inject a bit of colour into your day.

So, I have entered the Sophy Robson X INSA X Nail Porn competition. I submitted my entries mid March and am pleased with the outcome. I am also in the best of album on the Nail Porn Facebook page, which I think is an achievement in itself. :))

I came across the competition nosing through Miss Robson's page and saw her rendition of INSA inspired nails. They were bloody gorgeous, next to the image, a write up about the competition. I said to myself 'what the hell? Give it a go' and immediately researched into INSA's work and fell in in love. Okay, so Its mostly images of tits and arses but what caught my eye was the colours used and striped patterns. These are all on a huge scale, mesmerising. I got started straight away...

What's really cool, a blogger and fashion stylist (Simone Sylvester) wrote a piece about one of INSA's exhibition in London and also came across my entry on twitter and so included me in the blog. I am so chuffed.

My entry for the competition are below but I think that there is a clear winner Miss Mel 'Pretty Nail Swag' Reyes. Her designs are brilliant. Check out all of the entries on www.Facebook.com/nailporn

Have a good day y'all, remember to keep them fingers and toes poppin' xxx

Welcome to my world!!!

Welcome to POP Nails/NailedbySabrina (me) my first ever post.

My nail philosophy, be fearless and inventive, hence POP Nails. I love to POP nails with vivid colour, outrageous, fun, simple, chic and aesthetic designs.

I have been popping nails for 7 years now but only discovered Nail Art about 2 years ago when I first saw 'Supa Nails, Keep it real' set. I found it so inspiring and creative, the fact that you could draw and paint pictures on a nail. Coming from a background in Graphic design and Make up Artistry I thought "wow, i can do this" I usually paint on a huge canvas, so i thought scaling down to a nail would be difficult but the challenge was fun! I then discovered other nail artists in the game 'Sophy Robson' and 'Jenny Longworth' both British, both a-mazing and inspiring!! I thought "right, that is it, this is for me, I need to make my mark in the nail world. I too can create and display my art in this way". and so i am ... follow me on this journey if you would like to see my inspirations, creativity and passion for colour.

Over the weekend I was on a photo shoot with the new online Vintage fashion boutique, @DollsMaison. Wonderful bits... I especially loved the shoes... all available to buy at ASOS market place. The theme was Graphic Print, right up my street as i am secretly obsessed with geometric design and the new Graphic Print SS12 fashion collection at LWF12!!! Check out my work, and let us know what you think?
